M3 & M5 Stuart
Light Tank 1940-1945 by Steve Zaloga and Jim Laurier
The M3 and M5 family of light tanks was the culmination of
American tank development in the 1930's. Although the emphasis was
shifting to medium tanks by the outbreak of World War 2, the Stuart saw
action with the British in the Western Desert and with the US Army in
Tunisia. It proved to be especially well suited to the Pacific theatre,
and fought successfully at Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Peleliu, Saipan and in
Burma.
